After arriving in the UK from her homeland of India and pursuing a degree in Chemistry, all while raising a young family, Dr. Parveen Bhatarah has become a leading voice in the world of Cannabinoids – from research and development to advising the government on policy and regulation, there really isn’t anything she doesn’t know about this fascinating ingredient. We’re delighted to have her as part of our family.
What do you love most about being part of the Nature’s Journey team?
For me, it’s the people – from the very first time I met the team, I fell in love. I felt such a connection with their vision, their products, and the people behind the brand. I also really love the philosophy – about creating products for the modern generation. I think now, more than ever, people need products that help them to maintain a sense of wellness.
What are some of your favourites in the range, and why?
It might come as a surprise, but I’m not someone who typically uses many cosmetic products – but I must admit, I love the Nurturing Day Cream. It comes with me wherever I go. Never mind diamonds, I think this is a woman’s best friend! – my whole family love the range, and my son especially adores Sleep Easy Pillow Mist.
What does ‘wellbeing’ mean to you?
To me, wellbeing is all about making small steps towards continuous improvement in your holistic wellbeing – I try daily to focus on my spiritual, physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and environmental wellness. Whether it’s making time to practice yoga and meditation, or research and reading, it’s something that I’m really passionate about.
What is your motto in life?
My mother had a mantra “own your day” – it’s something that I’ve always lived by. I believe that if you start your day with some time meditation and time for quiet reflection, then God will give you the power to live your day. It’s something that I’ve carried with me throughout my life, and something I’ve tried to inspire in my two sons.
Describe a day in the life of your job
I’ve always been an early riser, so my day starts at 5am, and I spend the first few hours of my day meditating, practising yoga and spending time with my cat, before a cold shower, and to my desk for 8am. My day is varied – with scheduled meetings, travel, plenty of emails, and research on the latest innovation and analysis. I always make time at the end of my day for 30 minutes of pre-planning for the next day. It helps me clear my mind and ensure I’m focused for tomorrow.
Describe your perfect ‘self-care’ day
I try to make every day a self-care day. I always start my day with something active – whether that’s meditation, yoga or a run, and I swear by a cold shower to awaken me. Of course, I love using our range, and so my perfect day would have to begin with Nurturing Day Cream to keep my skin looking and feeling its best all day, and it’d end with a generous spritz of Sleep Easy Pillow Mist before a good night’s sleep.
