Oils that love your skin

From ancient rituals to modern-day wellness routines, plant oils have remained a staple ingredient in skincare products due to their ability to moisturise, protect, and rejuvenate the skin. These oils are derived from various parts of plants, such as seeds, nuts, fruits, and flowers, each offering unique benefits for skin health.

At Nature’s Journey, we use over 50 pure plant extracts, in concentrations that make a real difference to the health and appearance of the skin to power our range of skincare – but how do plant oils help the skin?

Plant oils act as potent moisturisers, penetrating the upper layers of the skin to replenish lost moisture and restore hydration levels. Unlike synthetic moisturisers, plant oils mimic the skin's natural lipid barrier, preventing water loss and maintaining skin health.

They’re also rich in antioxidants, helping combat free radicals, which can accelerate skin aging and damage cells. These antioxidants neutralise harmful molecules, protecting the skin from environmental stressors like pollution and UV radiation.

Many plant oils also contain essential fatty acids such as omega-3 and omega-6, which are crucial for maintaining healthy skin function. These fatty acids help strengthen the skin barrier, reduce inflammation, and promote cell regeneration, resulting in smoother, supple skin.

Whether you're looking to hydrate, rejuvenate, or protect your skin, there's a plant oil to suit your needs, providing nature's own solution for healthy, radiant skin – here’s a few of our favourites that you can find across our range – from our skin quenching Hydrating Face Serum, to our glow-boosting Radiance Facial Oil and Nurturing Day Cream to name a few.

Flaxseed oil, rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, offers numerous benefits for skincare. Its anti-inflammatory properties soothe irritated skin, while its moisturizing effects help maintain hydration. Flaxseed oil aids in improving skin texture, reducing redness, and promoting a healthy, glowing complexion.

Avocado oil is a nutrient-rich skincare ingredient, packed with vitamins E, C, and A, along with fatty acids and antioxidants. Its deeply moisturising properties nourish and hydrate the skin, while its anti-inflammatory effects soothe irritation. Avocado oil promotes collagen production, improving skin elasticity and promoting a youthful appearance.

Rosehip oil, derived from the seeds of the rosehip fruit, is renowned for its potent anti-aging properties. Packed with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as essential fatty acids, rosehip oil promotes collagen production, improving skin elasticity and firmness. It also contains beta-carotene, which helps to brighten the complexion and reduce the appearance of dark spots and scars. Additionally, rosehip oil is rich in antioxidants, which protect the skin from free radical damage and premature aging.

Hemp seed oil is a skincare powerhouse, boasting omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants. Its lightweight texture hydrates without clogging pores, making it suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone skin. Hemp seed oil calms inflammation, balances oil production, and promotes a clear, radiant complexion.

Marula seed oil is a luxurious skincare ingredient, rich in antioxidants, fatty acids, and vitamins E and C. Its lightweight texture absorbs quickly, deeply hydrating the skin without greasiness. Marula oil promotes collagen production, improves elasticity, and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, revealing smoother, youthful-looking skin.

Argan oil, often referred to as "liquid gold," is extracted from the kernels of the argan tree native to Morocco. Rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, and fatty acids, argan oil is renowned for its moisturising and anti-aging properties. It deeply hydrates the skin, improves elasticity, and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, its anti-inflammatory properties make it suitable for soothing irritated skin conditions.
